Principal’s Message

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. (Nelson Mandela)

Dr. Sr. Lilly P.V.

A warm welcome to the new academic year 2018 -19! Year 2018, has been declared as the Year of Youth by the Holy Catholic Church. As an educator, I am aware of the immense opportunities vested with an institution like Mercy. While potential is universal, lack of opportunity prevents many a youth from realizing their full potential. As an education institution, we hope to bridge this gap by providing quality education. This is not a mere dream but a practice found on long years of service in this sector. The college works to ensure that young people from diverse backgrounds have equal access to education which will eventually lead them to live healthy and productive lives and contribute to their community and country.

In all our endeavours, the college has been led by the vision of our founding father Saint Chavara Kuriakose Elias, who foresaw the immense social changes possible through  education when he envisioned the Congregation of Mother of  Carmel.  With the blessings of Mother of Mercy, our college has been successful in fulfilling the vision of our forefathers. As one of the first women’s colleges in the district, the college has proven its commitment towards the betterment and empowerment of women through education. I am also very happy to say that, Mercy College has performed creditably in curricular and co-curricular activities as well. The primary emphasis of the college is on the holistic development of students. Students are encouraged to achieve excellence in their chosen areas.  Apart from achieving academic excellence, students are exposed to a wide variety of enriching experiences through the various co-curricular and extension activities offered by the college. Above all, the college realizes the importance of inculcating of moral values to enable  students to develop into well-adjusted global citizens. The college is also well aware of the need for a constant engagement with all the stakeholders to ensure quality education.

With our feet firmly placed in tradition and poised to meet the challenges of the future, Mercy College is stepping in to the next academic year. Let me take this opportunity to thank each and every member of the Mercy family for your support in the previous year. With the blessings of God Almighty and heavenly succour of Mother Mary, we “ dare and hope” to welcome  the new academic year!
